PayDay is a brand of a candy bar first introduced in 1932 by the Hollywood Candy Company. Payday was marketed during the Great Depression as a meal replacement because of its dense peanut outer layer. As the story goes, it was payday at the plant when the inventors were trying to come up with a name for the new candy bar, hence its name!
